ProFood World Magazine Names New Clemens Food Group Plant Winner of Manufacturing Innovation Award
The new fresh pork processing facility for Clemens Food Group in Coldwater, Michigan has been named a winner in ProFood World magazine’s 2018 Manufacturing Innovation Awards. In its second annual awards competition, ProFood World recognizes outstanding processing and packaging operations in the food and beverage industry. Gray Construction completed the 650,000 s.f. fresh pork processing facility in 28 months, allowing Clemens to produce 12 million pounds of pork per week to feed the world.
Kraft Heinz Awarded Food Engineering 2018 Plant of the Year
Food Engineering has named Kraft Heinz’s new factory in Davenport, Iowa, the 2018 Plant of the Year. The state-of-the-art meat processing and packaging facility is the first greenfield construction project for The Kraft Heinz Company since the landmark merging of Kraft Foods Group and H.J. Heinz Company in 2015. Kraft Heinz selected nationally ranked Gray Construction to design and build its 382,000-square foot facility on 70 acres in the Eastern Iowa Industrial Center.
DBIA National Design-Build Award
Gray Construction is the recipient of two 2016 National Design-Build Awards from the Design-Build Institute of America for its Champion Petfoods Kentucky DogStar® Kitchens project. Gray received an award in the Industrial, Process and/or Research Facilities category, as well as an Excellence in Teaming award. Situated on 85 acres of farmland, the 371,000 s.f. facility named DogStar®, is located in Auburn, Kentucky and was purpose built from the ground up. The DogStar® Kitchens were designed to make the best and safest dog and cat foods on earth, exceeding the regulatory requirements of a human food facility. Learn more, here.
2016 Gold ADDY Award
Gray Construction received a 2016 Gold ADDY award in the Sales & Marketing, Newsletter Campaign category for its nationally-acclaimed newsletter, theGrayWay. The ADDY awards are presented by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of Lexington on an annual basis. Winners are selected by a panel of judges who evaluate the creative dimensions of entries in each category. In 2015, the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) awarded Gray Construction with a national Design-Build Project Award in the Industrial/Process/Research Facilities category for the Michelin North America, Inc. Red Oak manufacturing facility located in Anderson, S.C. National Tilt-Up Award for Big Ass Fans
Gray was recognized with the Tilt-Up Achievement Award at the 24th annual Tilt-Up Awards Gala in San Jose, Calif., for the unique use of Tilt-Up on Big Ass Fans’ new headquarters from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA). Due to the company’s rapid growth rate, Big Ass Fans needed a new 84,594 s.f. office that allowed for even further expansion in the future. Southeast Office Named Best Alabama Employer

Gray Construction was awarded the industry’s highest national safety honor from the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), the leading association for the construction industry in the U.S. Gray received the 2014 “Best of the Best” Grand Award out of 25 first place divisions at the Willis Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA) after also bringing home the first place honor in the 500,000+ construction management hours worked division. 2014 Build Kentucky Award
Big Ass Fans, a Gray Construction customer, was honored with a 2014 Build Kentucky award from the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Kentucky. The award was given for Big Ass Fans’ worldwide headquarters in the design-build $5-$10 million category. Gray was awarded a 2012 National Design-Build Honor Award from the Design-Build Institute of America in the Industrial/Process/Research facility category for the Siemens U.S. Nacelle Facility in Hutchinson, Kan. The 289,842 s.f. facility, about the size of five football fields, achieved LEED® Gold certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies. Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Alabama Excellence in Construction Award
Gray was awarded the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Alabama Excellence in Construction award from ABC of Alabama. Gray received the award for the 108,000 s.f. Austal USA office complex in Mobile, Ala. This facility, approximately the size of six football fields, is used to produce the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and the Joint High Speed Vessel (JHSV) for the U.S. Navy. Read more here.
ENR 2011 Best Projects Award
Gray received an Award of Merit in the Industrial/Manufacturing category from Engineering News-Record (ENR) the Mountain States region for its 289,842 s.f. Siemens US Nacelle Facility project in Hutchinson, Kansas. This facility was the first project in the U.S. to utilize a Teqton jointless, maintenance-free floor slab. This was Siemens first LEED® Gold certified production facility in the U.S. and the first LEED® Gold new construction/industrial site in Kansas. Read more here.

Gray Construction was awarded The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America Construction National Safety Excellence Award for Construction Management during the 92nd Annual AGC Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. This national award recognizes construction companies across the U.S. who have developed and implemented premier safety and loss prevention programs. For the second time since its inaugural awards program, Gray Construction was presented the Hall of Fame Constructor Award from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). This award recognizes the contractor that has had the most positive impact on EKU's Construction Management program.
