Gray Receives 2020 Constructech Vision Award
Gray, a fully integrated service provider specializing in engineering, design, construction, and smart manufacturing, is honored to receive a Constructech 2020 Gold Vision Award in the Commercial: AEC/Design category. The company was recognized for its custom workflow using Autodesk Assemble, Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Primavera 6, and Microsoft SharePoint.
The Constructech Vision Awards honor companies across the industry that have realized advantages in the convergence between construction and technology and how this can be successfully applied to everyday business operations. As Constructech puts it, these awards are for construction companies that have done something innovative with technology.
“The Constructech Vision Awards have set the standard for innovation in the construction industry for more than 20 years,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Constructech and president of Specialty Publishing Media.
Gray’s new workflow allows our teams to leverage a project’s interactive 3D BIM models to track exact quantities of work-in-place in real time, as well as build interactive reports and dashboards that allow the site and project teams to visualize each project’s progress in an automated, collaborative way.
“An entrepreneurial spirit is at the heart of Gray,” says Brian Jones, president and CEO of Gray Construction. “We encourage everyone who works here to push themselves outside the traditional boxes and look for new, innovative ways to find solutions that can help propel their own personal growth and the business forward.”
“Gray has done an amazing job ensuring that we have the adequate amount of resources and the energy dedicated to making sure everyone has the tools they need to succeed,” says Matt Roberts, data manager and co-founder of this workflow.
This new process has been a major asset for Gray as it ties together multiple systems and streamlines the communication across multiple project teams.
“This workflow has proven to be very impactful for our company. From risk mitigation, scheduling, during the project, and everything in between, this tool has greatly improved our efficiency on multiple projects,” says Zac Slone, project engineer and co-founder of this workflow.
This year’s winners were selected by a group of industry experts based on the project to solve a challenge with the use of technology, looking at the ROI (return on investment), among other things, as part of the solution.
