Gray Recognized for Excellence in Construction Safety

Gray,a fully integrated, global services provider, is proud to announce its consistent pursuit of safety is once again being recognized by both national and regional safety awards, this time from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

Gray’s Southeast office, located in Birmingham, Alabama, has been honored with the 2022 Safest in the Industry Eagle Award by ABC Alabama. The Eagle Award is the top safety honor awarded by ABC, and it is given to those who show an outstanding culture of safety by going above and beyond in their commitment to keep everyone safe.

“This award validates the unrelenting commitment of our team members who come to work every day with safety top of mind,” says Drew Romans, regional manager of Gray’s Southeast office. “I’m proud to be a part of a family that looks after each other, and I’m proud that those values are recognized within our industry.”

In addition to the Eagle Award, Gray also was awarded the Diamond STEP award for the fourth consecutive year. This award recognizes not only the safety commitment of the Southeast office, but all Gray’s offices and jobsites.

STEP, Safety Training Evaluation Process, is a program implemented by ABC in 1989 to further educate companies on safety and evaluate safety environments. For this recognition, Gray’s safety program, team member requirements, as well as our OSHA incident record were evaluated. Based on the information, participants in the STEP program were awarded a level ranging from Diamond to Bronze, with Diamond being the highest.

“At Gray, safety is our No. 1 core value, and we strive every day to make sure everyone goes home each day injury free,” says Ned Brown, director of safety for Gray. “We want to win safety awards every year, not because we need to fill a place on a shelf, but because we want to constantly innovate to improve our safety for team members and craft workers on our projects.”
