Relationships Matter: Q&A with Project Manager Ben Poore

At Gray, we are dedicated to building relationships and friendships. Every project is an opportunity to create an unforgettable experience for our customers. These values are reflected in everything that we do at Gray. Whether in the office or on the jobsite, people and relationships are at the forefront. To understand this firsthand, we spoke with Project Manager Ben Poore about his experience at Gray and the unique environment of the South Atlantic Office.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

“Every time I enter the South Atlantic Office it brings a positive energy to my day. You could be having a terrible day based on events that have transpired, but we are surrounded by people that can support other team members through their challenges.”

What has been your most memorable experience since being a part of the Gray Family?

“Family Farm Day was a great event held last year in which the Charlotte team brought their families to enjoy an afternoon of activities together.”

What’s the most valuable advice you’ve ever been given?

“Lead by example.”

What do you think sets Gray apart from other service providers in the industry?

“The culture! So far, I have had the opportunity to work on a couple of projects out of multiple offices. In my experience, everyone is about building relationships. This includes people at the very top that I have interacted with so far. Everyone has been willing to listen and help out in anyway they can. I truly believe if Gray does not lose sight on the culture that has been established, while we are growing, that we will continue to prosper.”

In one word or phrase, how would you describe Gray?

“Adaptable.”

What unique capabilities does the South Atlantic Office provide, and how do they complement Gray’s overall service offering?

“Around the Charlotte area, there is substantial growth. Based on Gray’s resume and willingness to adapt to each customer’s needs, that gives us a unique advantage compared to our competitors. I feel like the Charlotte office has a lot of well rounded and eager team members. With our teams in the office, I feel like we are and will continue to be willing to take on any project that is tasked to us.”

If someone was visiting the Charlotte area, what would you recommend to them as a “must-do?”

“This time of year I would highly recommend, whether you like baseball or not, attending a Charlotte Knights game. The atmosphere is impressive with a lot of activities before and after the game surrounding the venue.”
