Established in 1951 in Calgary, Alberta, IKO Industries, Ltd. is a worldwide leader in the roofing, waterproofing, and insulation industry for residential and commercial markets. A vertically integrated company that has been family-owned for four generations, IKO operates 37 manufacturing plants across North America and Europe.
For its first project with Gray, IKO selected the company to design and build a nearly 300,000 s.f. facility for manufacturing fiberglass mats for IKO shingle products. The production facility in Chester will be the first of its kind for the customer.

Gray is responsible for Phase I and II scopes of work, which include building shell, concrete, and MEP. The challenging schedule for the greenfield facility necessitates close collaboration between Gray and the customer’s foreign equipment providers to ensure timely procurement, installation, and commissioning.
The facility includes three bridge cranes for material handling, a 35′ deep basement for processing, and a 120′ tall automated storage & retrieval system (AS/RS). IKO expects to reach full production capacity at the facility by mid-2025.
