USPS Eagan Recognized by MNSTAR

Steve Sviggum

The USPS-Eagan jobsite was officially recognized as a MNSTAR recipient. The application and evaluation process started over 16 months ago and is a first for both Gray and PCL.

MNSTAR participants are a select group. MNSTAR began in Minnesota in January 1999, and is modeled after the federal OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), which began in 1982.

MNSTAR is a Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA) program that recognizes worksites where managers and employees work together to develop safety and health management systems that go beyond basic compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and result in immediate and long-term prevention of job-related injuries and illnesses. If you are interested in learning more about the MNSTAR program, please visit http://www.dli.mn.gov/WSC/Mnstar.asp.

To designate our MNSTAR status, the Department of Labor and Industry recognized the USPS Jobsite with a flag raising ceremony on March 2, 2010. Gray and PCL were also presented a MNSTAR certificate at the Minnesota Safety and Health Conference during the 76th Governor’s Safety Awards Luncheon on May 14th. They are the 3rd contractor to receive this recognition.
