POSCO-AAPC Breaks Ground

POSCO-AAPC

On January 28, 2010, POSCO America Alabama Processing Center Co., Ltd. (POSCO-AAPC) broke ground on their new $19 million steel processing facility in Jefferson County, Ala. The facility will supply U.S. factories of Korean automakers such as Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. POSCO-AAPC held the groundbreaking ceremony at Jefferson Metropolitan Park McCalla, the location of the future facility. The steel processing facility will bring 60 new jobs to the area and will be the premier processing facility in the U.S. The plant is considered a steel service center and will import steel rolls from POSCO’s steelmaking operations in Korea and Mexico.

POSCO is headquartered in Korea and is the second largest steel producer in the world. The company’s global steel production exceeded 28 million tons last year.
