Opportunity for Advancement
Beginning a new job is never easy. The first day jitters usually hang on for the first couple of months, while you try to get settled into your new role and new environment. At Gray, we are grateful to have new team members with a wide range of experience joining our team nearly every day. And new people coming on board means more opportunity for advancement within the company.
We got the chance to talk to Nolan Petty, a newer team member, about his time so far with the company, some of the opportunities that are available, and what it means to be a part of Gray.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
“I really enjoy being outside and putting my hands on a project. Watching the work go into place and being involved in onsite work helps me to better understand the construction process and learn as much as I can.”
What has been your most memorable experience with Gray since you started?
“Probably when I finished my last job. It was the largest and most complex job I’ve worked on so far, and the customer seemed very satisfied when we turned it over.”
Since you started with Gray, how has the company changed in your opinion?
“One thing that has changed is some faces having moved on, which has given others an opportunity pursue more responsibility. The fact that Gray promotes from within really motivates me to work hard throughout my career and pursue opportunities.”
What does being a part of the Gray Family mean to you?
“Proud. It’s not uncommon for someone to recognize the logo on my truck and tell me that they’ve worked with somebody at Gray and how great of an experience it was.”
In one word or phrase, how would you describe Gray as a company?
“Professional. I’ve worked for companies that don’t do things the right way, so I really like how our company takes so much pride in our work.”
