Gray & Publix Continue Collaboration on Distribution Center in North Carolina

Gray, a fully integrated service provider specializing in engineering, design, construction, and smart manufacturing, is thrilled to announce our continued collaboration with Publix Super Markets, the largest employee-owned company in the U.S. In February, the companies broke ground on a new refrigerated distribution center in Greensboro, North Carolina. Today, Publix and Gray are announcing plans to collaborate on a new 1.2 million s.f. dry grocery warehouse that will be located on the Greensboro site with anticipated completion in the fourth quarter of 2022.

“At Gray, we focus on relationships,” said Brian Jones, CEO of Gray. “To announce a new project before an initial project’s completion speaks to the strong foundation that Publix and Gray have built. It’s exciting to play a role in a project that is contributing to a growing distribution market.”

Currently, the site is undergoing significant grading operations to support the phase I campus buildings along with preparations for the dry grocery warehouse. Construction for the new warehouse is slated to begin in the spring. At peak construction, more than 500 workers are expected to be on-site.

Upon completion, the new campus will include a refrigerated warehouse, dry grocery warehouse, a return center, fleet maintenance building, dispatch, and security posts.

"At Gray, we focus on relationships. To announce a new project before an initial project’s completion speaks to the strong foundation that Publix and Gray have built. It’s exciting to play a role in a project that is contributing to a growing distribution market."
