Helpful Tips

We want you to have the best possible experience at our event, so we’ve put together some helpful tips. Whether you are a first-time guest or a Derby veteran, we hope you find this helpful.

  • Understand that you’ll be standing and walking a lot. Take our Derby veteran tip and wear comfortable shoes or pack a pair of ultra-comfortable shoes to change into during the day. Your feet and legs will thank you for it!
  • Purses are permitted, but none larger than 12” in any dimension.
  • Cameras with detachable lenses, camcorders, and laptop computers are NOT allowed.
  • Weather is always a wildcard for the Kentucky Derby! The first Saturday in May has ranged from snow to 80-degree temperatures. Make sure to check the weather so that you are prepared with climate-appropriate attire.

Any information related to COVID-19 protocols will be communicated as the date draws closer.
