LEEDing the Way
The central location of the facility allows goods to be received at coastal ports from both Asia and Europe, and then transported inland to Joliet for distribution. Located on 72 sprawling acres, this project marked the seventh partnership between Gray and IKEA.
IKEA’s Joliet facility features the largest solar rooftop in Illinois, including a massive 470,545 s.f. solar array that consists of a 2.91 MW system build with 8,966 panels. Annually, it produces approximately 3,411,600kWh of electricity for the building, earning it the LEED Gold distinction.
