Gray Provides Assistance on Newly Opened Manufacturing Facility in Georgia
Gray, a nationally ranked engineering, architecture and construction firm, provided site selection assistance, architecture, civil and structural engineering and construction management services on Caterpillar’s newest heavy manufacturing facility. The facility opened on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Caterpillar’s new plant manufactures small track-type tractors and mini hydraulic excavators, products that were formerly made in Japan.

Gray, a nationally ranked engineering, architecture and construction firm, provided site selection assistance, architecture, civil and structural engineering and construction management services on Caterpillar’s newest heavy manufacturing facility. The facility opened on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Caterpillar’s new plant manufactures small track-type tractors and mini hydraulic excavators, products that were formerly made in Japan.
The Athens, Ga. facility marks Gray’s second project for Caterpillar. Gray recently completed an 850,000 s.f. design-build CAT manufacturing plant in Winston-Salem, N.C. that manufactures surface mining truck axles. Currently, Gray has several large projects that are underway or recently completed including: a Michelin Earthmover tire manufacturing plant in Starr, S.C.; a Siemens gas turbine plant in Charlotte, N.C.; a Whirlpool plant in Cleveland, Tenn.; a Roxul insulation manufacturing facility in Byhalia, Miss.; a Drax Biomass wood pellet storage and shipping facility in Port Allen, La.; and multiple projects for Austal USA in Mobile, Ala.
