Gray Celebrates the Ribbon Cutting of Pet Food Processing Operation for Petsource by Scoular
Gray, a fully integrated service provider specializing in engineering, design, and construction, is proud to celebrate the completion and ribbon cutting of the new pet food operation for Petsource by Scoular. As the company’s first manufacturing venture in the pet food sector, the greenfield project spans 105,000 s.f. and establishes a new business owned and operated by an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Scoular.

“What an honor it is to be part of this new business venture for Scoular,” says Brian Jones, president and CEO of Gray. “We wish the Scoular team the very best as it enters this new market with Petsource.”
Petsource is a freeze-dried ingredient division of Omaha, Neb.-based Scoular, and this new plant is the first manufacturing facility of its kind for the organization. The project includes a warehouse, cold storage rooms for raw meat processing, freeze dryers, and packaging rooms. The facility produces high-protein freeze dried ingredients for pet food manufacturers.
The 106,000 s.f. manufacturing facility is located in the Seward/Lincoln Regional Rail Campus in Seward, Nebraska.
“We are excited to drive innovation in the pet food industry and are encouraged by our customers’ enthusiasm for the capabilities within our new facility,” said Petsource General Manager Amy Patterson.
“Petsource appreciates the deep experience Gray brought to this project,” Patterson added. “Gray truly was a trusted partner every step of the way for Scoular.”
Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and spoke to the positive and significant impact the operation would have on the community.
“Scoular has been creating opportunities for Nebraskans for over a century,” said Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts. “The Petsource operation brings great jobs to Seward, and we’re grateful for Scoular’s ongoing commitment to growing its business in the Cornhusker State.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony included remarks from the governor and Scoular leaders, along with community leaders.
The project was completed in 17 months and included some 150 workers on site at the peak of construction. Approximately 100 new jobs are being created as a result of this project.
