Gray and Häns Kissle Break Ground on New Fresh Foods Facility
Gray, a fully integrated, global services provider for the food & beverage market, and Häns Kissle, a world-renowned provider of quality fresh prepared foods, broke ground on a new, 98,000 s.f. food manufacturing facility that will produce ready-to-eat deli salads and fresh prepared foods.
The company selected Gray to design and build the new facility.
“Building and maintaining great relationships are what truly drive our business,” says Brett Goode, senior vice president with Gray’s South Atlantic Office. “This partnership began on strong relationships and will be the reason this project is a success.”
“We are excited to be able to expand production to meet the growing demand for our great tasting products for consumers and retailers in the southeastern United States,” said Scott Moffitt, CEO of Häns Kissle Company. “Gastonia is a thriving community with a talented workforce, and we are proud to put down roots and call it home for our new facility.”
Häns Kissle is a subsidiary of Mitsui, one of the largest corporate groups in the world, and Kenko Mayonnaise, one of Japan’s leading deli salads manufacturers. In the summer of 2021, the group elected to begin the bidding process for this new facility after the original plans were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gray provided layouts and designs, which improved the original footprint by 20% while also increasing efficiency for production flow throughout the plant. Ultimately, this design provides overall operational and cost efficiencies.
The facility will be located on 26 acres in Gastonia, NC, and will take a little more than a year to complete. It is expected to create 230 jobs upon reaching full production.
