Eurofins Scientific Celebrates Grand Opening of State-of-the-Art Louisville Laboratory
Eurofins Scientific celebrated the grand opening of its new Eurofins Microbiology and Eurofins Genomics laboratories in Louisville, Ky. on Tuesday, March 1. Eurofins selected Gray Construction to provide design-build services for the 65,800 s.f. facility, which houses both laboratories.

Eurofins Genomics is a leading provider of genomic services established around the core business lines of traditional and next generation DNA sequencing services as well as oligonucleotide and gene synthesis. Services include: next generation sequencing, custom oligonucleotide synthesis (including GMP), gene synthesis and siRNA synthesis.
Eurofins ExpressMicro™ rapid microbiology testing services include: pathogen testing, process control, quality and spoilage tests, strain identification, environmental monitoring and shelf-life studies. The laboratory utilizes the latest analytical technologies that provide the robustness and sensitivity needed to rapidly quantify and detect pathogenic, spoilage and probiotic microorganisms.
Approximately 100 people were in attendance, including Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. Bevin and Fischer discussed the scientific advancements and innovative logistics provided by Eurofins in the greater Louisville area.
“We are pleased to welcome Eurofins Scientific to Kentucky and excited about creating jobs in the promising career field of genomics right here in Louisville,” said Governor Matt Bevin. “We are glad they will be taking advantage of the many logistical capabilities that are unique to Kentucky. This is a testament to the quality of Louisville’s workforce and further indication that Kentucky is open for business.”
Gray’s Ohio Valley Regional Office President Steve Renshaw, Director, Pre-Construction Services Ben Meurer and Project Manager Mark Schentrup also attended the ceremony.

In addition to a ribbon cutting ceremony, key suppliers, industry partners and community leaders also enjoyed a personal tour of the facility and networking.
