Costco Opens Doors on New Distribution Warehouse in Lexington, KY
Costco Wholesale Corporation celebrated its grand opening on October 18, 2013 in Lexington, Ky. The members-only discount shopping warehouse offers shoppers everything from food, clothing, jewelry, and office supplies to a complete pharmacy and services such as business payroll processing. The property also includes a 16-pump fuel station.

The property also includes a 16-pump fuel station.
The 157,504 s.f. facility is the second to the state of Kentucky and is bringing some 190 jobs to Lexington. Unique to this location is the Kentucky river stones that are displayed on the front entrance.
Costco selected Gray to provide design-build services for the building. Construction for the project began in June and was completed in October, some 5 months later. This project marks Gray’s seventh Costco since 2010. Gray recently added a fueling facility to the Costco in Brookhaven, Ga., a warehouse also built by Gray. Other projects by Gray for Costco include a warehouse in Bucks County, Penn.; warehouses and fueling stations in Concordville, Penn. and Farragut, Tenn.; and a remodel of the freshline departments inside the Town Center Costco Wholesale in Kennesaw, Ga.
Costco currently operates 641 warehouses, including 457 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 85 in Canada, 34 in Mexico, 25 in the United Kingdom, 18 in Japan, 10 in Taiwan, 9 in Korea, and 3 in Australia. The company plans to open up several more new warehouses before the end of calendar year 2013. Costco also operates electronic commerce websites, at www.costco.com (U.S.), www.costco.ca (Canada), and www.costco.co.uk (United Kingdom).
