Sparking Clean, Renewable Energy
Siemens’ new 289,842 s.f. wind energy nacelle production facility produces the massive structures used in wind turbines. These 90-ton oblong steel beams sit perched atop wind turbine towers that house generators, gears, and electrical systems.
This facility involved heavy loads to allow for the transport and movement of nacelles throughout the building. A jointless, maintenance-free floor slab, the first of its kind in the U.S., was used as a part of this project.
The new facility produces approximately 650 nacelles or 1,500 megawatts per year.
