Rodney
Carpenter
Rodney began his journey with Gray in the summer of 1989, working on a jobsite between college semesters. He later joined the Lexington office as an intern and has since developed his career through a variety of key roles, including project engineer, project manager, and director. During a hiatus from Gray, he gained valuable experience on the owner’s side of the industry—overseeing construction, design, and facilities departments—which broadened his perspective and strengthened his leadership in design-build project delivery.
In his current position as senior vice president, Distribution & Commercial, Rodney plays a central role in continuing to grow Gray’s legacy as a design-build leader, guiding projects from initial sale to successful completion. Rodney balances his days between executive accountability and market strategy, mentorship, and business development.
With a mix of hands-on and executive experience built over decades, Rodney’s expertise spans all phases of project execution for large-scale distribution and commercial facilities across the U.S. and Canada, from planning and estimating to construction and commissioning. Rodney feels honored to work alongside Gray’s talented team members, business development professionals, and valued customers to deliver innovative solutions that empower businesses and communities.
Outside of work, Rodney enjoys boating, hunting, traveling, and spending time with family.
