PROCESS ENGINEERING SERVICES

Engineering the Process Before the Building

Process design engineering built around how your product transforms from raw material intake to finished goods output.

OVERVIEW

Industry Starts with Process

All too often, industrial facilities are designed for form rather than function. General contractors typically aren’t involved in designing and implementing the processes that drive facility operations, so the facility takes shape around the building footprint, then the owner’s assets are deployed as space allows. Material flow ends up working around walls and columns instead of the other way around, adding steps, distance, and cost as the  product moves from raw material to finished product. Safety, efficiency, and flexibility all suffer as a result.
Gray’s in-house process engineers design around the product and its needs. We ensure your facility is designed and built for efficient processes, streamlined material flows, and efficient material handling from raw material intake to final packaging and shipping. Each stage is carefully considered with regard to equipment, conveyance, utilities, and mechanical or chemical alteration. De-watering, fluid transport, heat exchange, separations, and inspection are modeled in 3D alongside the building, not on a set of separate P&IDs handed off after the fact. Our process-first approach carries into equipment selection, layout, and startup, so the building serves the process instead of constraining it.
