Airplane Engine Test Stand
Supplying Power and Air Compression for Specialized Equipment.
Spencer Bristol Engineering, a Gray company, worked with an aviation industry leader to design electrical power distribution and air compression systems for a new airplane engine test stand.
Spencer Bristol provided MEP design engineering and contract administration services for the customer’s new airplane engine test stand. To conduct testing, the stand required high-pressure, dry, heated air supplied by a 700 HP air compressor, an air dryer, a 1 MW heater, and booster compressors of 350 HP and 120 HP.
Project design included a new 480V, 1600A switchboard for electrical power distribution to the air compressors, as well as the installation of a new 600A breaker into an existing switchboard to power the air heater.
