On April 20, 2012, Newman Technology broke ground on a $15 million manufacturing plant in Albertville, Ala. that will employ some 60 workers. Newman Technology, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sankei Giken Kogyo Co., Ltd. of Japan, supplies parts to the Honda Manufacturing of Alabama plant in Lincoln and will begin production in its new facility in 2013. The company makes door sashes and exhaust components for Honda, Acura and Subaru. This will be the company’s first plant in Alabama.

In a statement, Alabama Governor Robert Bentley thanked the company for its confidence in the state’s business climate and said he was glad that the State of Alabama played a role in attracting the company.
