Lexington, KY – November 8, 2010 – Gray Construction, ranked 6th among U.S. Top Manufacturing Contractors, has been tapped by Caterpillar Inc. to construct a new 850,000 square foot state-of-the-art LEED Certified manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem for the machining, assembly, test and painting of axle assemblies for large mining machines.

“Caterpillar is a global leader with a broad portfolio of leading products, technologies and brands, and the Gray team is enormously honored and excited to be selected for this flagship project,” said Stephen Gray, president and chief operating officer for Gray Construction.

Gray has responsibility for the oversight of the construction for the Caterpillar facility and anticipates that many of the jobs created by the construction project will come largely from North Carolina-based companies. The first local company added to the Gray team is Cavanaugh & Associates, a Winston-Salem based site development firm.
