Big Ass Fans Celebrates Groundbreaking
On May 29, 2012, Big Ass Fans, a Gray customer for six years, broke ground on an 84,000 s.f. facility that will be used for office space and warehouse storage in Lexington, Ky. Big Ass Fans is the preeminent designer and manufacturer of 6 ft. to 24′ diameter high volume/low speed (HVLS) ceiling and vertical fans developed to provide significant energy savings and improve occupant comfort year round in large commercial, industrial, agricultural, institutional and residential buildings. Gray has installed Big Ass Fan products in several of our industrial facility construction projects across the U.S., most recently the new 1.5 million s.f. Whirlpool manufacturing facility in Cleveland, Tenn.
Gray, ranked 3rd among the top green contractors in manufacturing, will provide design-build services for the new facility. Gray first worked with Big Ass Fans on a 45,000+ s.f. LEED® Gold certified Research and Testing facility in Lexington, Ky.
Gray, a nationally ranked engineering, design and construction firm, currently has several large projects, mostly located across the South, that are underway or recently completed including: a BMW Manufacturing Corp. facility in Greer, S.C.; eight projects for Volkswagen on their Chattanooga, Tenn. campus; a Caterpillar, Inc. manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a Caterpillar, Inc. manufacturing facility near Athens, Ga.; a Siemens gas turbine plant in Charlotte, North Carolina; a Whirlpool plant in Cleveland, Tenn.; and multiple projects for Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama.
