Kuraray
Gray delivered design, construction, and engineering for MEP and process & packaging systems on Kuraray’s first U.S. facility—a 54,256 s.f. polyvinyl alcohol processing facility.
In addition to the facility’s construction, Gray’s scope included procurement and installation of 5,500 electrical instruments, 257,000 l.f. of above-ground piping, and 1,100 pieces of process and utilities equipment, including pumps, vessels, reactors, tray towers, pneumatic conveyors, heat exchangers, and bagging/palletizing machines.
The facility encompasses an administration building, control building, maintenance building, catalyst storage house, chemical warehouse, chlorine storage building, catalyst shelter, and product warehouse.
Each building has its own unique construction method and materials to account for its distinct processes. Installations at the site include (1) 10 ton bridge crane, (1) 5 ton crane, (2) 3-ton hoists, (2) dock levelers and equipment foundations.
