From Groundbreaking to Grand Opening: Gray and Morinaga Complete Landmark Expansion

Gray, a nationally recognized construction and engineering firm, joined Morinaga America Foods to celebrate the grand opening of the company’s expanded North Carolina manufacturing facility in Mebane, N.C.

The 130,000 s.f. brownfield expansion joins Morinaga’s existing nearly 100,000 s.f. production campus. This expansion is in response to surging consumer demand for HI-CHEW, one of the fastest-growing non-chocolate candies in the country.

Gray delivered a comprehensive suite of integrated services for the project, including construction, engineering, automation, and process equipment procurement and installation. The facility features new production lines, exterior bulk dry and liquid storage, extensive process piping, and a hygienic design with a walkable IMP ceiling for easier maintenance. Custom equipment designed by Gray and automated controls bring greater precision and operational flexibility to the expanded campus.
