Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Willett Engineering, a Gray company, was proud to contribute to the structural engineering of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, an iconic structure for the world of sports and for the city of Atlanta, and the current home of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United MLS.
Willett’s involvement in the project included the rigging, bracing and shoring of the building façade, including the massive “Window to the City” that gives fans an unobstructed view of the Atlanta skyline. Crane positioning for the erection of steel and glass panels was also an integral part of the project due to the close proximity to the Georgia Dome and the underground MARTA lines.
At 30 stories high, the stadium can accommodate up to 83,000 people. Its retractable roof and other glass-like exterior walls provide an open-air environment with great views of the city. Its 58-foot high 360-degree HD halo video board encircles the roof, delivering a fan experience like no other.
