HYUNDAI TRANSFORMER PLANT
As one of the affiliate factories of Hyundai Electric Systems, this new Hyundai Power Transformer Plant was constructed on an 80 acre site just south of Montgomery, Alabama. The plant designs and produces oil immersed type, dry type and cast resin transformers up to 500kV capacity for the US market. The extensive facility includes a 20,000 sq. ft. office building, a 18,000 sq. ft. training center, a 51,000 sq. ft. metal fabrication shop, and a 220,000 sq. ft. transformer assembly building, this latter structure being 107 feet to the roof line.
Spencer Bristol Engineering provided design and construction administration services for the mechanical, plumbing, process piping, power, lighting, and low voltage systems.
This Hyundai Power Transformer Plant was the first US production plant for South Korea’s electric power industry and employs around 300 people.
