Volunteer Night at Green Harvest Food Pantry

On Thursday, July 26, members from the SPEC team volunteered after work at Green Harvest Food Pantry, which is located down the street from our office. Green Harvest is a non-profit agency that provides food and personal hygiene items to working low-income families, the elderly, and those recently unemployed who suffer from hunger insecurity.

Hunger is a real concern in country.

  • 15% of Illinoisans live with food insecurity
  • 1 out of 5 children in our communities live in food insecure households

During SPEC’s visit, we helped provide warehouse assistance, grouping food together for clients to take. The work our group did for an hour, helped the food pantry cut down on staffing costs that would normally take them several weeks.
