SPEC recently hosted the inaugural Junior Engineers Summer Camp from July 30 to August 3. Third through eighth graders joined the engineers to learn how everyday concepts utilize engineering skills.
Main topics of the Junior Engineers Summer Camp included:
- Controls Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
Sample activities included creating a robot scribbler, tie dying, watching a contained explosion, learning about safety, utilizing Virtual Reality to understand plant design, and measuring the flow of different items.
SPEC Engineering gives back to the community in a variety of ways. The goal of this program was to provide a space for the children to learn and grow in the field of Engineering. Through their experiences at camp, the children gained a different perspective of how things work and the design behind simple systems.
