On January 21, 2019, SPEC Engineering hosted the first annual High School Shadow Day for students grades 9-12. We know it can be challenging to determine what college major may be the best fit, so SPEC employees took time to explain to students their jobs within the company and also about how engineering and manufacturing careers operate.
Topics of discussion included:
- 2D and 3D modeling of a system
- FAT testing of a system
- Virtual Reality and the link to 3D models
- Manufacturing overview
- Electrical engineering overview
Students also had one-on-one time with an engineer to ask specific questions about the industry. We hope this day inspired these students to explore career opportunities in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and think about career path options.
