Gray and Maruchan Virginia Inc. Celebrate Grand Opening of Food Processing Expansion

Gray, a leading design-build firm recognized for its engineering, architecture and construction expertise, is excited to commemorate the opening of the new Maruchan Virginia Inc. manufacturing expansion in Chesterfield, Virginia.

Maruchan Virginia Inc. originally opened the Chesterfield, Virginia campus in 1989. The 60,000 s.f. addition, known as the “Soup Room Expansion,” houses production and packaging for the various flavor packets for the company’s well-known ramen noodle packages.

 

The grand opening ceremony featured a ribbon cutting as well as remarks from Mr. Mike Snyder, Vice President of Operations, Maruchan Virginia Inc.; Mr. Tadasu Tsutsumi, Chairman, Toyo Suisan Kaisha, Ltd.; Mr. Hiroyuki Matsushita, Plant Manager, Maruchan Virginia Inc.; and Stephen Gray, president and CEO of Gray. Several local leaders and other distinguished guests were also in attendance for the event.

“We want to extend our congratulations to Marcuchan Virginia on the opening of their soup room expansion,” said Stephen Gray, president and CEO of Gray. “We’re proud to be part of this project that allows Maruchan to reach more customers with its great products.”

The new facility is three levels, including a ground level with two upper mezzanine floors. The warehouse includes a 50’ high bay with rack shelving that is using primarily for raw material storage.

 

Maruchan Virginia Inc., a subsidiary of the Tokyo-based Toyo Suisan Kaisha Ltd., produces more than three billion packages of ramen noodle soup each year.
