Maruchan Virginia Inc. Celebrates Groundbreaking on Manufacturing Expansion
Maruchan Virginia Inc., a subsidiary of the Tokyo-based Toyo Suisan Kaisha Ltd., officially broke ground on a manufacturing expansion on its Chesterfield, Virginia campus, which opened in 1989. The “Soup Room Expansion,” as it’s being called, consists of an additional building for the production and packaging of the various flavor packets that make up the company’s well-known ramen noodle packages.
Gray Construction, a leading engineering, architecture and construction firm, has been selected to perform design-build services on this project. The highly automated expansion will include a 60,000 s.f. building with two-story mezzanine floors.
“Part of Gray’s purpose is to ‘make a difference,’” said Stephen Gray, president and CEO of Gray Construction. “Knowing this project will allow Maruchan to bring more of its well-known products to its customers allows us to fulfill our purpose.”

The project is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2019.
