Gray Construction CEO Stephen Gray Looks to the Future of U.S. Auto Manufacturing

How are changing rules and regulations combined with new materials and systems, plus innovation impacting U.S. automotive manufacturing? What’s more, why are foreign automakers and suppliers betting big on investment in the U.S.? Gray Construction President & CEO Stephen Gray recently addressed these questions and more in his latest Area Development feature.

Over the last few years, the automotive industry has undergone a plethora of changes, providing retailers and manufacturers with a renewed sense of optimism in the opportunities afforded by the industry’s evolving landscape.  An improved economic outlook, coupled with technological and material advancements, are leading manufacturers to believe that growth in the sector is unlikely to stall anytime soon.

“Though the industry has changed and is continuing to do so, automotive manufacturing is strong. Our customers, which consist of automakers, assemblers and tiered suppliers, indicate that growth is still very much on the horizon,” Gray said.

Gray continued, “Direct foreign investment into the U.S. is expected to continue and expand for reasons involving energy (both for abundance and cost-effectiveness), the close proximity to the American consumer, the rising costs of international transportation, and the fact that capital investment in America is much less risky than investing in other countries.”
