Summer Intern Spotlight: Christopher Simek

Happy National Intern Day!

Today we recognize our Controls Intern, Christopher Simek, for the hard work and great attitude he’s brought to Spec Engineering. This is his second summer interning at Spec. While his day-to-day tasks are normally never completely the same, his days typically consist of HMI & PLC programming, updating and drawing schematics, troubleshooting panels, and some panel wiring. His favorite part of his internship is that no day is the same. He said each day there is something new or different, so it keeps the work exciting.

When asked what his favorite part about being an intern at Spec, Christopher said, “The experience they provide. I love how they get me involved in the projects and allow me to get hands-on experience that other internships don’t provide.” The most memorable experience he’s had at Spec was the time he spent a few hours troubleshooting a panel and then finally figuring out the issue. “The relief and happiness of seeing the panel work was exciting,” he said.

This upcoming fall, Christopher will be starting his senior year as a Computer Science major at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
