Tyler Davenport, design engineer at Spec Engineering, celebrated his one-year anniversary with Spec this month. He started at Spec as a CAD drafter in December 2020 and has since moved into a design engineer role. “The growth at Spec is exciting. Since I’ve started at Spec, we’ve added almost 40 employees, and growing by the day, along with the kickoff of our new Naperville facility. This company has only grown since I started, and I don’t see us slowing down anytime soon,” Tyler said.
As a design engineer, Tyler collaborates on product design and development to create functional products and services that exceed customer expectations. Tyler’s favorite part about being a member of the Spec team is the opportunities he’s been given to grow and the support that’s come with that growth. “I believe that people determine a company’s success, not just a product, and it’s refreshing to see a team of people who are always willing to help,” he said. When asked to describe Spec in one phrase, he described it as a one-stop-shop for our customers, allowing them peace of mind from start to finish of their project.
Tyler enjoys that it is a very dynamic work environment, with involvement in multiple industries and tight timelines for completion. At times it can be hectic, but he’s found that it can be very exciting. When asked what his most memorable experience with Spec since he’s started, he said, “I’ve really enjoyed traveling to customers’ sites, to both see a project at its completion or in its early stages to get a better understanding of the customers’ pain points.”
