Spec Team Spotlight: Dan Statkus

Dan Statkus, manufacturing process manager at Spec Engineering, celebrated his three-year anniversary with Spec in October. When Dan first started at Spec, he was a process engineer. In 2020, he transitioned to the project manager of the CandyWorx division, spearheading the DepositMoreTM depositors, Cacao Cucina product line, and all other confectionery systems. Just a few weeks ago, Dan was appointed to his new role of manufacturing process manager. “Spec has added around 50 new employees over the past 12 months, not to mention in the middle of a pandemic.  We are blessed to be included as one of the many essential businesses that help keep the food supply/critical products on the shelves,” said Dan. When asked to describe Spec in one phrase, he said, “Exciting Exponential Growth Opportunities.”

As manufacturing process manager, Dan’s focus has shifted towards assisting the manufacturing team to optimize standard product lines, develop strategic initiatives for expansion, and develop processes to accelerate our manufacturing growth potential. What Dan enjoys most about his job is that even from day one at Spec, no two days have been the same. He said every day is a new collection of complex puzzles to solve, and these have made him a stronger and more dynamic professional.

When asked what Dan’s favorite part about being a member of the Spec team, he responded with, “Spec has such a talented team, and some of my best days are collaborating with them to solve extremely complex issues internally and for our customers.” He shared that one of his most memorable experiences at Spec was when he and one of his colleagues spent several days integrating a piece of equipment into a continuous confectionery line for a key customer. “Uptime was of the essence and safety for our team/customer’s employees were our top priority. We laughed, we cried, we enjoyed a nice bourbon, and in the end, we were able to further solidify the relationship with our customer over another successful project,” he said.
