Meet Our Controls Engineer: John Chapman

With 30 years of electrical engineering experience, John Chapman joined the SPEC team in August of 2013. John has been heading up the Controls Division of SPEC ever since.

John was born and raised in Crystal Lake, IL. He has always been interested in the how and why items were designed and produced: this led him to his course of study at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago, IL. John graduated from IIT with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science.

John got his first job in the electrical engineering industry in 1984. John’s previous employer did work with SPEC and it sparked his interest in the company. He was attracted to the type of SPEC is involved with.

When John is not working, he enjoys camping, fishing, kayaking, and coin collecting. He resides in Lemont, IL. Three interesting facts about John are:

1) Happily married for 30 years with two great children.
2) Life Scout.
3) Lifelong Green Bay Packer fan.
