Junior Engineers Virtual Summer Camp

Last Friday, we concluded our Annual 5-day Junior Engineers Summer Camp. With the challenges of a national pandemic we hosted the camp virtually for the first time, as the health and safety of our campers and employees is our top priority. Each camper received a complete box of supplies to participate in the daily activities, and joined a live classroom each morning that led to a lesson taught by one of our engineers.

The live kick-off video calls included a brief introduction of the lesson of the day, discussion of previous day’s activities, a pre-recorded presentation from one of our engineers pertaining to the topic of the day, and how we apply it our everyday work here at Spec Engineering. Below was the schedule with activities completed:

Monday: Pneumatics – Activities were a Balloon Rocket and Pneumatic Jack in the Box

Tuesday: Chemical – Activities were Sandwich Baggie Tie Dye Explosions on a T-Shirt, Clear Slime, and Mentos & Coke Reaction

Wednesday: Electrical Engineering – Activities were Clear Slime and Wobblebots

Thursday: Material and Flow – Activities were Density Jar and Lava Lamps

Friday: Technology – Activities were Stop Motion Animation and Google Cardboard (Virtual Reality)

We hope that our campers had a great time learning about pneumatics, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material flow, and technology. Thank you to everyone who made this possible! We are already excited for next year.
