Greer has been home to BMW Manufacturing Inc. since 1994 as the company’s only assembly factory in the U.S. In 2008, BMW announced it would invest $750 million into the campus that touts highest production volume in the world and selected Gray as a partner.

Next Generation Automobiles
BMW invested in this campus to help fulfill its mission to produce the next generation of vehicles. This facility produces the BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicles that are sold around the world.
This 1.2 million s.f. expansion to the North plant is just a portion of the overall expansion plan, completed by Gray in just 10 months. Gray’s involvement also expands to other areas of the campus, including a 38,102 s.f. warehouse expansion and a 173,528 s.f. body shop expansion, bringing the total expansion size to 1.4 million s.f.
Since the start of production at the automotive plant in September 1994, BMW has rolled out more than 1.6 million vehicles and invested a total of $4.6 billion.
A study by the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business said the company has created 23,000 jobs across the state. The total campus expansion resulted in more than 7,000 jobs.
